The RATS is a touring team designed to enhance our athletes' pre-season preparations and to also build a culture of respect, responsibility and accountability. This tour gives the athletes to chance to visit different countries and learn about other rugby cultures, whilst pitting themselves against handpicked opponents made to test them.
The RATS embarked on their inaugural tour in 2017 (Under the banner of Sask Rugby) and visited Washington DC, where they played in the Maryland Youth Festival.
In 2018, we went beach-side to San Diego, CA and played against some of the best SoCal opponents they had to offer.
Our tour traditionally takes place at the end of our winter season around Easter long weekend and are away for the whole week. We have great supporters in the way of the Rugby Canada Foundation - Bridge the Gap, who see that the cost to the athletes is at a minimum. Average cost of our tour is $800 which covers flights, hotel, kit, insurance and ground travel.
